The Kimbell House in Jackson, Alabama, is a historic home built circa 1848 by Isham Kimbell. It is a significant local landmark, representing one of the few remaining “pioneer-type” dwellings in the area.
Kimbell was elected Sheriff of Clarke County and in 1833 was elected Clerk of Circuit Court and served several terms. He was a successful merchant until his death in 1881.
This home was built by Isham Kimbell in 1848 on Lower Commerce Street. It was given to the City by the Woodson family and moved to its current site in 1977.
The home has been beautifully restored and offers a spacious parlor, serving and/or dining rooms with rich, wood floors, high ceilings, a separate kitchen prep area, large covered porches, and a lush courtyard.

Today, the home is owned by the City of Jackson and serves as a popular venue for weddings, reunions, and community events.
